Archie Huie
Archie Huie is a longtime pickleball coach and mentor whose passion for teaching has made him a respected figure in Tucson’s pickleball community. Raised in Ellensburg, Washington, Archie served in the U.S. Army as a helicopter pilot before building a successful career with the Seattle Times, where he retired as Transportation Manager overseeing a fleet of more than 160 vehicles.
After retiring and moving to Tucson in 2004, Archie discovered a love for coaching pickleball. What began as casually helping fellow players evolved into more than seven years of instruction, including coaching some of the earliest players at Udall before dedicated pickleball courts were even built. Known for his practical approach, humor, and genuine desire to help others improve, Archie believes the game is about far more than winning—it’s about having fun and building community.
